General information
- For many disputes arising from a tenancy, mediation must be attempted before a claim is filed.
- Where a tenancy has lasted more than five years, the court may set the new rent with reference to comparable rents.
- Eviction is only possible on grounds listed in the law, such as the landlord’s housing need, a written undertaking to vacate, two justified notices within a rental year or expiry of the ten-year extension period.
- A promise-to-sell agreement for real property must be executed before a notary to be valid.
