General information

  • The investigation is conducted by the public prosecutor; the trial stage starts when the court accepts the indictment.
  • Suspects and defendants may be assisted by one or more defence lawyers at every stage of the proceedings.
  • For offences prosecuted only upon complaint, the complaint must be filed within six months of learning of the act and the offender.
  • For certain offences listed in the law, mediation must be attempted before a case is brought to trial.

Where do I file a criminal complaint?
